Dia is an award-winning internationally published science and parenting writer. She has written, coauthored or edited over a dozen books. Her titles include Nurtured and Nuzzled (new for 2015); Milk, Money & Madness: The Culture and Politics of Breastfeeding; Breastfeeding at a Glance: Facts, Figures and Trivia About Lactation; Breastfeeding Facts for Fathers; and the book we will be talking about today, If My Mom Were A Platypus Mammal Babies and their Mothers. Dia is founder and president of Platypus Media, an independent press in Washington, DC, dedicated to promoting breastfeeding, safe infant sleep and attachment parenting, A popular speaker, she appears regularly healthcare, parenting and education conferences. She also teaches classes at children’s, natural history and science museums and leads professional development workshops for teachers on using mammal stories to teach science concepts. Dia lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and their three children.
