Cindy Fletcher
Cindy Fletcher sees giving back to the community as an important part of her life. She has been volunteering and/or managing volunteers since college, when she volunteered as a big sister to a little girl in her small college town of Morris, MN. After college, she moved to the Russian Far East, for three years, to teach English as a foreign language as a Peace Corps volunteer. When Cindy returned to the United States and moved to Portland, she began volunteering with immigrants, evenings, as an English as a second language teacher. She joined the board of the Portland-Khabarovsk Sister City Association and volunteered to help interpret at host-family dinners for Russian speakers visiting Portland through World Affairs Council of Oregon programs. Looking to learn more about Portland community organizations and to gain leadership skills, Cindy joined the Junior League of Portland, which, among other things, led to a volunteer opportunity with the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
