As a writer, producer, editor and independent documentary filmmaker for over 25 years, Amy Kalafa has produced award-winning films, television programs and magazine articles in the field of food, health advocacy, and medicine and wellness education. She is perhaps best known for her independent documentary, Two Angry Moms, about the impact of school food on children’s health. The film has been honored at festivals around the US, and been featured in major national media including Good Morning America, NPR, the New York Times and the cover of USA Today. In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Amy is also a published author. Her book “Lunch Wars: How to Start a School Food Revolution and Win the Battle for Our Children’s Heath”(Tarcher / Penguin, 2011), has been touted as, “the visionary and groundbreaking book about sustainable school food advocacy and policy” and was nominated for the Books for a Better Life Award.
