Hannah Walters, CNM, DNP

Hannah was born and raised in Watkinsville, Georgia. She went to the University of Georgia and later nursing school at the Medical College of Georgia. She continued to live in Athens while working as a forensic nurse until moving to Atlanta for graduate school. She attended Emory University where she studied Nurse Midwifery and got her Doctorate in Nursing Practice, focusing on public health. Her research focused on capturing midwives as the delivery providers of birth certificates and understanding what factors play into data accuracy. After school, Hannah worked for a busy hospital practice before finding her way to out of hospital birth. She has also worked as a nurse and a midwife at Feminist Women's Health Center, an abortion and comprehensive GYN clinic in Atlanta. She currently works full-time as a midwife at Atlanta Birth Center and is also a co-investigator in the Wellness Within research study. Hannah has a passion for reducing disparities in sexual and reproductive health and how midwifery care can hold space for individual human experiences. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys being with family, working in her garden, and rock climbing
